Our History
The founder is Brenda Jeniffer Brenda Otti Corbit, an entrepreneur with interests in real estate and a banking background. Brenda and her husband, a senior CEO in the Insurance sector, have successfully managed businesses for many years and believe in minimal debt, competence at every level and absolute ethical standards.
Copper Farm started in 2017 Mutundwe, Kampala with 500 chicks on its inception spanning to 8,000 on a leased plot with a basic structure
The original distribution strategy was to local Supermarkets, but the quality and reliability of the product was noticed by Biyinzika, a large chicken feed, chicks and finished product processor and contracts for product supply entered and enhanced when Copper Farm invested in Busunju 55 kilometers from Kampala on the Hoima road.
This new, greenfield site initially started with one chicken broiler house with a 20,000 capacity but grew to two houses with a 40,000 capacity. The land, the utilities, the chicken houses and all the working capital requirements were self funded by Brenda and her Husband with no debt incurred at all. This prudent strategy paid off considerably during the COVID crisis when many chicken farmers closed because of debt servicing issues.
Quantum of South Africa leased the Busunju fully operational Farm and has already invested in a material leasehold improvement by adding a third chicken house. This plan will continue indefinitely. and the asset of Copper Farm 1 is now valued as a going concern at 2 Billions UGX minimum
Copper Farm went ahead and leased a Farm in Ndese( Mukono district) with 2 chicken houses whose capacity is 7,500birds per house giving a total of 15,000 birds, annually 105,000 birds.
